Syahrizan oversees all aspects of Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., ViacomCBS’ tentpole kids and family brands, across Asia. She is tasked with growing the brands and driving opportunities for content, creative partnerships, programming, and marketing on all platforms.
Most recently, Syahrizan led the pitch for Sharkdog, the first animated short-form original series from Singapore and Asia to come out of the 2015 edition of Nickelodeon’s annual Global Animated Shorts Program. She also provided creative supervision for original kids’ animation series Deer Squad which was co-produced with iQIYI, and drove the multi-pronged strategic collaboration for the series. She led the Asia launch of the Emmy® award-winning Nickelodeon Play mobile app on Singtel’s CAST and Telkomsel platforms, and supported the launch of Nickelodeon Japan across several key OTT platforms. In 2019, Syahrizan oversaw the production of Asia’s first SLIMEFEST, Nickelodeon’s iconic music festival targeted at kids and families.
Previously, Syahrizan was the Senior Director of Programming for Nickelodeon Asia, where she was responsible for programming, acquisitions and on-air promotions for the region, as well as developing and executing content strategy across platforms and Nickelodeon-branded environments. She led the production of Passport Around Asia, which won gold for ‘Best Holiday/Seasonal Promo’ at the PromaxBDA 2012 Asia Awards. Syahrizan headed the development of Akis by Inspidea, an original Malaysian animated series that aired on Nickelodeon in Asia.
Syahrizan has a wide breadth of experience in the content and media industry, spanning close to two decades. Before joining ViacomCBS, Syahrizan was with Mediacorp’s then TV12, where she was a senior executive responsible for content planning across Prime 12 and was also part of the team that launched Mediacorp Suria channel.
Syahrizan was named one of the 12 thirty-something leaders seen to make the most difference in tomorrow’s media industry, in ContentAsia’s ‘Fabulous… & Under 40’ feature. She was also featured in ContentAsia’s Top 20 special which identified the makers and shapers of creatives and promotions for the media industry.
