  • A live training tutorial on technical art & VFX with Unreal Engine 4

    WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
    The participants will learn a series of advanced techniques for creating environments and effects in UE4. This tutorial assumes participants have basic previous experience with UE4 and will build upon fundamentals to demonstrate how to develop effects, level tools and enhance their existing projects. These effects will be developed using Blueprints which are easily leveraged by all game development disciplines, so artists, designers, and programmers are welcome

    TRAINER PROFILE
    Chris Murphy is an Evangelist for Epic Games with game development credits across PC, VR, Console and Mobile. Chris has over 10 years of experience with Unreal Engine, a Bachelor of Computer Science and a Bachelor of Multimedia, culminating in a broad skill set across a range of game development disciplines. Chris’ role as Evangelist for Epic Games is to help independent game developers build successful games with Unreal Engine 4 through support, training and education.

  • Introduction about Toon Boom, sharing of industry/market data and presentation about “digital visual storytelling” (the importance of storytelling, storyboarding, more generally Pre-production in IP Development and the importance of digital in producing animation in a pandemic situation)

    TRAINER 1 PROFILE
    Sylvain Grisollet is the Sales Agent for Toon Boom Animation in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Sylvain is a French professional who has been working in business development in Southeast Asia for 5 years. He is located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Since he started representing Toon Boom, he supported the adoption of their industry standard animation tools in no less than 8 Asian countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan). He is collaborating closely with animation studios, schools and government agencies to build up the local animation industry and support the development of creative talents with employable skills.

    Ms. Kim Bussiahn (Animator), Toon Boom software

    TRAINER 1 PROFILE
    Kim Bussiahn is an animator from South Africa and started working with Toon Boom software in 2010, where she worked on Alphanim's Green Squad at a local studio. She then moved onto teaching the software at a tertiary level for six years, eventually ending up working for Toon Boom directly. For the past 3 years she has been an animation specialist at the company, training studios and schools in America, China and Russia to name a few, as well as working on internal projects and customer success.

    WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
    You will learn the basics and fundamentals in creating Concept Art for Game Cinematic, with topics such as character design, keyframe concept, composition and some digital painting tips. We'll have a step by step guide to help visualize your creativity on the screen. The key goal on this adventure is to give you a better understanding and experience on the workflow and process of Cinematic Concept Art.

    TRAINER PROFILE
    Specializing in digital painting & concept design of film characters, keyframe art for game cinematic, story development for game trailer and storyboarding. Glow Production has been involved in producing cinematic video trailer for established studio:
    1. Smite: Cthulhu working with Hi-Rez Studios
    2. DRIFT animated feature film trailer collaboration with Parallax Studios
    3. Lord Danger & Devoted studios, KooKi.inc with Square Enix and etc

  • Unreal Engine allows for unprecedented real-time visuals but getting up-to-speed with the VFX toolsets can be a little daunting. Fortunately this workshop is here to help!

    WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
    The participants will learn and understand the workflow and power behind Niagara, Blueprint and the Material Editor inside of Unreal Engine

    WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
    Application of Animation Principles from Squash & Stretch, Anticipation, Timing, Slow In & Slow Out, Arcs, Principles of Animation, Acting for Animation Movement, Pose to pose for better expression and more.

    REQUIREMENTS
    Computer or laptop, Adobe Animate or any suitable 2D animation software, drawing tablet.
    You'll need a computer that will run Adobe Animate. Minimum specs are:
    64-bit dual core 2Ghz CPU with SSE2 support.
    4 GB RAM.
    1280×768 display.
    Mouse, trackpad or pen+tablet.
    Graphics card with 1 GB RAM, OpenGL 3.3.
    You'll need to download and install Adobe Animate

    Zulkifly Amirudin (Animation Director), Blindspot Studio Sdn Bhd

    TRAINER PROFILE
    Zulkifly Amirudin is an Animation Director & Voice Actor from Blindspot Studios. He is currently Directing the Youtube Hit Preschool Animation "Alif & Sofia". As an animation enthusiast, he is a former Animation Lecturer at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), and continues teaching via his own platform #sembangAnimasi on social media. Before joining Blindspot Studios, he was formerly a 2D Animation Supervisor at a local production company and has vast knowledge and experience in the animation production pipeline.

    • The revolution of the fusion movement which changed the perception of this traditional shadow puppet (wayang kulit) art, & making it relevant to the modern world.

      WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
      * Master puppeteer will be giving the audience a tour of our gallery, & telling about the history of Malaysian wayang kulit, as well as demonstrate the art of puppet-making, & the art of Dalang (performing).
      * Creative Director will give in-depth sharing about how we design new type of characters & how we enhance the performance using new technology & multimedia such as animation & visual effects.
      * Audio Programmer will be talking about how he built an app specifically to enhance the audio effect, & share his experience on how he solved the issues he faced during the performance.

      REQUIREMENTS
      We will provide few wayang kulit characters in PDF format, where audience can download & if they want they could cut them out later (not during the workshop) to include a brief history of traditional wayang kulit reading material.

      Pak Dain (Full Name: Muhammad Dain Bin Othman) (Master Puppeteer), Fusion Wayang Kulit

      TRAINER 1 PROFILE
      Pak Dain is the 13th accredited Tok Dalang ("Master Puppeteer") of the Kelantan Traditional Malay Shadow Play. With more than 30 years of experience in the field of wayang kulit, Pak Dain is the traditional art authority and tok dalang for FWK.

      Tintoy Chuo (Founder & Creative Director), Fusion Wayang Kulit

      TRAINER 2 PROFILE
      Tintoy Chuo is the founder and primary concept creator for FWK, Tintoy continues to oversee the project's main creative direction for overall design, working hard to promote the fusion movement to a wider audience.

      Jack Cheong (Audio Programmer), Fusion Wayang Kulit

      TRAINER 3 PROFILE
      A musician and audio technician, Jack is the sound engineer and programmer for FWK, having created the sound and voice effects for the project.
